#SummerofSoave celebrates the relaxed splendours of Italy’s finest, silkiest white wine with events and promotions.
What's this event?
Held in the beautiful but relaxed rooms and garden of Mary Ward House, this is an informal early evening wine party - what the Italians call an "Aperitivo". It is hosted by the wine growers of Soave, a beautiful wine town near the romantic Italian city of Verona. You can enjoy 40 exquisite wines, served with light snacks, and with friendly wine experts on hand if you'd like to learn more.
June 21st is the Summer Solstice - the longest day of the year, when the sun seemed to the ancients to stand still, and bathe us in golden glow. (Here's hoping.) The Italian astronomer Gallileo loved wine, lived near Soave, dared to prove that actually, we orbit the sun, and was not afraid to see things differently.
What is Soave?
Soave is a classic but under-the-radar wine – like the novel or TV series that everyone thinks they know. It is probably the most famous and definitely the most exported Italian white wine. The name means "smooth", and Soave is a fine, dry white that is seductive, but gentle. Made by family producers in the hills not far from Venice, Soave is one of the most dynamic and sustainable wine regions of Italy, through its collaboration with the World Biodiversity Organisation, and its recognition from the United Nations as an area of rich agricultural heritage. (GIAHS).
If you like Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, and would like a bit more interest and elegance in your glass, great Soave is for you.
Twenty producers of the finest examples of Soave will be in London for the #SoaveSolstice tasting - come and meet them.
You must be 18 or over to buy tickets for or attend this event.
